‘I THOUGHT OF QUITTING AND MIGRATING’
Actress-singer Nur Fazura confesses to wanting to leave the entertainment industry. SYAHIRAH MOKHTAZAR finds out why
IF she had followed through with her intention to leave the entertainment industry some time ago, sultry actress Nur Fazura Sharifuddin, 34, would not be where she is today, with a successful album which has secured her accolades as a singer.
Always one to appear resilient under the spotlight, fans would never have guessed that she had once felt overwhelmed by her career to the point of leaving the glam and glitz life behind.
“I felt like I wanted to find other things to do. Migrating to a foreign land crossed my mind,” she said at Universal Music Malaysia in Petaling Jaya.
“Sometimes, when you reach your peak in your life, you feel suffocated, and that’s how I felt then. So, I thought to myself, why don’t I just pack up and leave?
“I wasn’t planning to bid goodbye forever to an industry that has made me the person I’ve become today, but I wouldn’t deny that the thought did cross my mind,” she said.
When asked what career she would have chosen had she followed her heart, Fazura jokingly said, “Well, for starters, I might work at McDonald’s. It would be fun to learn to flip burgers and interact with customers.”
But Fazura managed to find the courage to stay on. And she made sure she worked tirelessly at honing her craft.
“There are two things that kept me going. My passion and my fans.
“I have my fans who I don’t want to disappoint. They keep me motivated to soldier on. Also, my passion for acting and music is just too strong to ignore.”
