3 held over Indonesian’s murder

-

KLANG: Police have arrested three people over the murder of an Indonesian woman, whose body was found naked in her bedroom in Taman Pelabuhan Klang here.

The murder is believed to have been motivated by anger following an incident where the victim allegedly scolded her neighbour’s child.

Klang Selatan police chief Assistant Commissioner Shamsul Amar Ramli said the victim, in her 40s, was found lying face up on her bed with a shoestring around her neck on Oct 5.

Forensics checks suggested that she might have been sexually assaulted as police found semen at the scene of the incident.

Shamsul did not specify where the bodily fluid was found, but said police were waiting for a post-mortem report.

Following the murder, police launched an investigation that led to the arrests.

The first to be arrested was a local man, 26, who was picked up at a shopping mart’s guard post in Seremban 2 at 12.30am on Thursday.

Police picked up another man, 28, in Jalan Chungah, Port Klang, before arresting a 23-year-old woman in Temerloh, Pahang, on the same day.

Police seized several items, including a mobile phone, believed to be the victim’s.

Shamsul said police were told that the female suspect was one of the arrested men’s girlfriend.

“During questioning, the first suspect told investigators that he was upset with the victim for scolding his girlfriend’s child, and the second male suspect denied any involvement in the incident.

“The woman said she received the mobile phone from her boyfriend.

“All three are under remand to facilitate investigations,” he said, adding that the case was being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
