Met Dept had issued severe weather alerts

The Meteorological Department had, on Nov 1 and Nov 4, issued early warnings of heavy and continuous rain in the northern states. It had first issued a Yellow Alert, which anticipated increasingly severe weather conditions in northern states, via a television broadcast, followed by the Orange Alert to warn that rainfall would continue at the maximum level and remain persistent, the deputy science, technology and innovation minister told the Dewan Rakyat.
