TWO seasons of reality show Love, Vivy on Astro Ria offered us a peek into the busy life of Vivy Yusof, co-founder of the popular homegrown fashion site FashionValet.

On top of running her successful business, spending quality time with her family and sharing stylish OOTD (outfit-of-the-day) with her 1.3 million followers on Instagram, the ambitious 29year-old now has her own selftitled YouTube channel.

Despite her hectic schedule, the mother of two decided to add vlogging to her expanding sets of skills, offering an insight into her work and personal life, as well as her discussing about various topics.

“All of them will be short and snappy. I want to create more value to educate younger people on tings related to education, reading more and lessons in business.

“Although make-up tutorials and skincare routines are fun to watch, I want to make sure I can offer more sophisticated content, too, while still being bubbly old me,” she said in an exclusive interview with the New Straits Times.

She said she was surprised that her new channel had garnered views so quickly.

“I was surprised to see thousands of views overnight, even before I announced it on my social media accounts. It has only been a week, but my videos have received over 100k views.

“I am nervous and feel a little pressured, but I know myself.

“I am not fazed by perceived fame. I am doing this because I enjoy it and will keep doing it so long as it is fun for me and beneficial to others in some way.”

She plans to upload two videos a week, depending on her schedule. So, what made her decide to launch a YouTube channel?

“I came across a home video of my parents and sister when they were younger and was drawn to it.

“I was opposed to the idea of recording a video because I am very shy. I hate public speaking and videos are intrusive, but they can convey so much more than photos and the effect is greater,” Vivy said.

“Doing Instastories (Instagram stories) was a practice to show snippets of my daily life. After shooting the reality show, it was easier for me to warm up in front of a video camera.”

Now that her YouTube channel is up and running, fans are wondering if the second season of Love, Vivy is the show’s last.

“I do not know. Love, Vivy was fun to do, but it was exhausting, with months of shooting and late nights with a big crew.”

“Shooting for a reality show on television is different from vlogging at your own pace. They are two different things.

“I would do it again, but I am not putting pressure on myself to rush into anything for the sake of another season.”
