Peng Soon, Liu Ying together again

-

RIO Olympic Games silver medallists Chan Peng Soon-Goh Liu Ying are reuniting in January.

Peng Soon said he and Liu Ying will be playing in major tournaments next year, including the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games, Indonesia Asian Games and World Championships in Nanjing.

“We will play our first tournament at the Malaysian Masters in January. This is something positive for us as we will start off in a major tournament next year.

“I just hope that Liu Ying will not be troubled by injuries again. Our aim is to regain our former form and make an impact next season,” said mixed doubles shuttler Peng Soon yesterday.

Peng Soon and Liu Ying went separate ways in March after the latter had a shoulder operation. Peng Soon then partnered rising star Cheah Yee See and their best performance was winning the Russian Open Grand Prix.

Liu Ying will begin her return to competitive action with a new partner for now in Chen Tang Jie, where they will take part in the India International Series Championship on Nov 29-Dec 3.

It is a move to get her back into action and to regain match fitness.

Peng Soon-Yee See will feature together for the last time at next week’s South Korean Masters.

“I hope we can achieve a positive result in Korea. Yee See has improved, but she needs to work on smaller details in her game,” Peng Soon added. Helmi Talkah
