Persuasive writing techniques

- Technology creates great opportunities, yet some feel people can no longer function without a smartphone by their sides at all times. Discuss how we can detach ourselves from being addicted to technology. We keep hearing about environmental pollutions, g

IN this issue, we will practice question two which is the extended part of the writing paper.

Here are some tips to prepare for this paper.

• For this extended writing task, you will have to write on a wide range of topics. Make a list with general topics and practise writing on each of them.

• Concentrate on presenting your main ideas in a clear and concise manner. Idioms and expressions are great, but too many of them will pull your grade down as it shows We are more connected than ever before, and our dependence on our devices is getting worse. Most of us check our phones within five minutes of waking up in the morning. You might be hesitant to call your reliance on technology an addiction, but your behaviours say otherwise. We can actually break free by ending our idle moments, unplug before bed and plan breaks. a lack of appropriateness.

• For struggling students, keep your sentences simple. Make sure that your thesis statement and topic ideas are evident and relevant. Elaborate your topic sentences with relevant ideas and details.

Environmental education has made us realise the need to preserve natural wealth. But just knowing and talking doesn’t help. When was the last time you did something towards protecting the environment? We know about the need to save the environment and we often talk about it. But most of us only talk. A very few of us actually do something. Let’s resolve to work towards saving the environment, even a small step counts. Let’s begin by saving energy, recycling and reusing as well as going green when gardening. The next thing to practice is to recycle and reuse what- ever and whenever you can. This is the best measure to save the environment. A simple way to do this is to reduce the use of rubber and plastic. Instead, use paper bags and cardboard containers. The practice of buying in bulk can help save a lot of packaging material and contribute to saving the environment. Buy products that you can reuse. Recycle daily-use items like old wood, scrap paper, paper articles and old clothes. You can donate them to the needy or make other cloth items from them. When we think about doing something to save the environment, we think of the depleting natural resources, environmental pollution, deforestation, endangered plants and animal species and we wonder how to contribute to saving nature. We think of these as very big problems and solving them, we think, is beyond our capacity. They are big problems. But thinking it is impossible to solve them is where we go wrong. We hardly bother to do anything in that regard. There are so many simple ways to save the environment.
