Association hands over memorandum to MACC

-

PUTRAJAYA: National Felda Settlers’ Children’s Association (Anak) and Parti Amanah Negara (PAN) have urged the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to investigate the Federal Land Development Authority (Felda) land scandal.

Anak president Mazlan Aliman said: “We urge MACC to investigate the case and keep the investigation papers (on the land issue) open. We want those who are responsible for allowing Felda to lose its land in Jalan Semarak to face the music.

“As the children of Felda settlers, this issue has a great impact on us as it involves land ownership. We have lost the Felda land in Jalan Semarak.

“This has caused uproar among the new generation of settlers,” he said after sending a memorandum to MACC here.

PAN Youth chief Faiz Fadzil urged MACC to look into possible abuse of power and corruption in the case before the commission ruled there was no element of corruption.

“Please conduct a thorough investigation.”

MACC deputy chief commissioner (operations) Datuk Seri Azam Baki said the case was being investigated by police.

“This case is being investigated by the police, not MACC. So, let the police do their job.”

The plots of land, which has been earmarked for the Kuala Lumpur Vertical City (KLVC) development project, will feature seven towers, including Felda’s iconic tower, to be known as KLVC Tower 1A.

The ownership transfer of the land took place when Felda Investment Corporation Sdn Bhd appointed a local company as its main developer on June 3, 2014, and granted it full power of attorney to develop the land.

Azam had said that the ownership transfer of the land was due to weakness in governance and breach of trust.

He said MACC believed that there was no bribery, or abuse of power in the case.
