Cops seize equipment to make Ecstasy
ADRUG-trafficking syndicate in Muar has been using YouTube to learn how to manufacture Ecstasy .
Its activity was discovered after a team from the Muar Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department raided a shed in Jalan Sulaiman on Friday.
Johor police chief Datuk Mohd Khalil Kader Mohd said besides drugs, the team also seized ingredients and equipment used to manufacture Ecstasy .
“We found evidence that the syndicate members have been referring to YouTube to learn how to make the drugs,” he said, adding that two men, aged 31 and 41, were arrested during the raid.
Police seized 13.4kg of Ecstasy powder, 362.3g of ketamine, 299.3g of marijuana and 53g of syabu.
“The drugs are valued at RM1.4 million. We believe they are intended for the local market,” Khalil said.
He said police also seized three cars and RM4,000 in cash.
“The suspects have records for drug-related offences.
“They tested positive for methamphetamine and have been remanded until Jan 26 to assist investigations.”
He said police were identifying the distribution network of the syndicate.
The case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 for drug trafficking, which carries the mandatory death sentence upon conviction.
