Seeking snowball effect on Malaysian kids

-

SAMSUNG Malaysia Electronics president Kim Yoonsoo hopes that figure skater Julian Yee will have the same effect as former World and Olympic champion Kim Yuna had on South Korea.

Yoonsoo lauded Julian for his hard work and determination which has seen him qualifying for the Pyeongchang Winter Olympics on Feb 9-25.

Partnering Julian, Samsung released a feature film today — “Julian and His Magical Skates, which highlights the challenges he had faced in his career.

“He (Julian) has faced many difficult times and obstacles but has managed to overcome them and will now compete in Pyeongchang.

“I am really proud of Julian and hope that his dream come true," said Yoonsoo, at the film launch.

“I remember Kim Yuna, a Korean figure skater who excelled at the World Championships and Winter Olympics.

“Because she did well, many Ko r e a n k i d s , w h o w a t c h e d her, dreamed of being as good as her.

“After Julian competes in the Olympics, I hope that the same happens and 10 years later the kids will have grown up and be able to compete in many other competitions.

“We can call them Julian's kids.”

Julian, who is currently based in Canada where he trains with coach Michael Hopfes, will take to the rink for his Winter Olympic event on Feb 16. Fadhli Ishak
