‘Kit Siang forgetful, needs rest’

- By Nor Fazlina Abdul Rahim

KOTA BARU: Pas yesterday called DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang “forgetful” and “in need of rest”.

Pas Youth vice-chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari said Lim was sorely mistaken when he said the rejection of Datuk Seri

Abdul Hadi Awang as the opposition’s prime ministerial candidate during the 13th general election (GE13) was what caused the two parties to sever relations.

He said the issue had no connection whatsoever with why Pas and DAP split.

Fadhli said it was DAP’s attitude towards Pas that was the actual cause.

“Has he forgotten who was constantly fanning the flames (of misunderstanding) between Pas and DAP, and Pakatan Rakyat (the previous opposition pact) as a whole?

“DAP broke ties with Pas after accusing (Pas president) Hadi of wanting to work with Umno and portraying Pas leaders as having lost their minds.

“The chronology of events clearly shows that DAP had started taking steps (to split).

“So, when Lim says the reason why Pas is angry with DAP is because it rejected (Hadi) as a potential prime minister, then I assume that Lim has problems with his memory and it is high time he retires and rests at home,” he said.

Fadhli was responding to a news portal report which quoted Lim as saying Pas was angry with DAP because of Hadi’s disappointment following GE13.

He claimed that Hadi had asked DAP for support in naming him prime minister, and not Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, should Pakatan Rakyat come out tops in GE13.

Fadhli said the relationship between Pas and DAP went sour after GE13 when Lim’s party showed its true colours by not supporting Pas when it wanted to introduce hudud law in the country.
