267 received RM400,000 in incentives from MACC last year

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) disbursed RM400,000 in the form of incentives to 267 civil servants nationwide last year.

MACC chief commissioner Tan Sri Dzulkifli Ahmad, said the remuneration was given as a recognition to individuals who had reported on graft to the commission.

He said the initiative was in line with the circular issued by the chief secretary to the government in 2011 titled “Guidelines on Recognition of Civil Servants Who Report on the Giving or Receipt of Bribery”.

“The MACC cannot fight corruption on its own, and as such, requires the cooperation of all parties.

“I hope they (civil servants) can become agents of MACC, to become the eyes and ears of MACC, to become friends of MACC and continue MACC’s fight against graft,” he said at the launch of Gerakan Memerangi Pemberi Rasuah campaign (Gempur), here, yesterday at Kuala Lumpur City Hall.

Present were Mayor Tan Sri Mhd Amin Nordin Abd Aziz and MACC deputy chief commissioner Datuk Seri Azam Baki.

Gempur is a rebranding of the previous Perangi Pemberi Rasuah” campaign.

The new campaign slogan of “you give, we report”, aims to educate civil servants to reject any form of bribery.
