BAT’s 2017 profit falls 34.47pc

KUALA LUMPUR: British American Tobacco (Malaysia) Bhd’s (BAT) net profit in the financial year ended December 31 last year lost 34.47 per cent to RM479.69 million . Yesterday, BAT’s revenue in 2017 slipped to RM3 billion from RM3.76 billion due to a domestic volume drop, cessation of contract manufacturing for exports and lower price segment. Net profit in the fourth quarter fell to RM78.19 million from RM202.21 million, while revenue fell to RM700.16 million from RM840.61 million.
