Annuar: Don’t be swayed by fake news

-

KOTA BARU: Several local and foreign media outlets are being fed with false information which will be disseminated during the 14th General Election (GE14).

Umno information chief Tan Sri Annuar Musa said there was a possibility that such information would be spread on the eve of polling day to foster hatred among the people towards the government.

He advised the people not to be easily taken in by reports, including foreign ones, as there would be interferences during each general election.

“At the same time, I advise Umno leaders to not issue contradictory statements, which could be manipulated by the opposition.

“The opposition is monitoring our every move, and it’s possible that the people would not be able to differentiate whether a statement is from the party or a personal view.

“We have to minimise our mistakes and work on countering false narratives,” he said at the 1Malaysia People’s Aid (BR1M) presentation ceremony at Kompleks YKK here.

Two thousand people in the Ketereh parliamentary constituency received BR1M aid.

On another development, Annuar said the party’s preparations to face GE14 were going well, including its simulation exercises at all levels.

He said each parliamentary, state and voting area must conduct simulation exercises to ensure that everything runs smoothly during GE14.
