Koryo emerge champions

Taekwondo Club emerged overall champions in the 13th Nestle Koko Krunch Junior Taekwondo Championsh­ip (Central Region) at Titiwangsa Stadium yesterday.

The club ended their campaign with nine gold, 12 silver and 25 bronze for their seventh win. Smart MA Club took second spot with a haul of 7-3-10, followed by A Team (5-2-4).

A total of 22 clubs comprising 681 exponents from Putrajaya, Selangor and Kuala Lumpur took part in the competitio­n.

Koryo coach S. Prabu Devan attributed his club’s win to hard work and dedication.

Koryo’s success was mainly due to their boys who won six gold, seven silver and 12 bronze, while their exponent Vanessa Laveenia Axton was picked as the best female athlete in the 10-12 age category

The central region event was the first of four regional Championsh­ips this year.
