Shuttler gives thumbs up to war on match-fixing

THE national players and coaches have given the thumbs up to BAM’s proposal to have a new standard operating procedure (SOP) to combat match-fixing activities in Malaysia.

“It is a good move as match-fixing is something that must be stopped,” said World No 2 Lee Chong Wei.

“Money is important but it should come from proper channels and not by fixing matches.

“A shuttler needs to work hard for money and success.

“If you are good, you don’t have to go looking for money, it will come to you.”

National player Iskandar Zulkarnain Zainuddin believes BAM have made the right move to fight match-fixing.

“Players who are found guilty should be handed the mandatory life ban.

“My advice to fellow players is don't be greedy. We should work hard and not try to cut corners," said Iskandar, who on Saturday bagged his second National Championsh­ips crown.
