Singer Liza returns after 9 years with ballad

- By Tahir Alhamzah

AFTER a nine-year break from singing to focus on her family and business, singer Liza Hanim is prepared to return to the scene.

For her comeback, she is gifting fans with single Mimpi, which boasts a haunting melody. The song is composed by singer-songwriter Hafiz Hamidun, with lyrics by Ahmad Fedtri Yahya.

Liza, 38, said the song was given to her in 2016.

“We recorded the song in April last year, but I was not satisfied with the result.

“So, we recorded it again at the end of last year.”

The ballad tells the story of a woman who lost her husband soon after their marriage. Unable to accept her fate, she hopes that it is all just a dream.

“I love the chorus. The melody sealed the deal for me.

“I knew even then that Mimpi would be the most suitable song for my comeback,” said the mother-of-four at the launch of the single in Putrajaya recently.

Liza, who is first runner-up of last year’s reality show Gegar Vaganza Season 4, has seven albums under her belt.

She said she hoped fans would enjoy the song as much as she did performing it.
