ADAM SHARES PRIZE MONEY WITH OTHERS
TV3’s ‘Bintang Bersama Bintang’ champion Mark Adam shares his RM100,000 with other contestants. SYAHIRAH MOKHTAZAR finds out why
HE may have emerged as the winner of TV3’s comedy-reality competition Bintang Bersama Bintang, but Filipino singer-comedian Mark Adam proves he has a noble heart by sharing the RM100,000 prize money with the other contestants.
“I am not rich, but I want to share this rezeki with the others,” the Malaysian-based artiste said minutes after being announced champion last Sunday.
“Before the programme reached the finals, all of us (the contestants) had discussed about sharing the prize money, regardless of the winner.
“There was no black-and-white deal, just a gentlemen’s agreement. Since I won, I am keeping my end of the agreement.
“The rest of the comedians, like Achey, Ajak, Shuk and Issey, are like family to me. I wanted all of us to celebrate this journey together.”
From RM100,000, Adam takes home RM40,000 while RM60,000 will be shared among the others.
Recalling the moment when he was announced as the winner, Adam said: “I had a delayed reaction as I did not expect to win.
“I was in such a good mood as I felt good about my performance with actor Khir Rahman.
“I think we did a great job and I loved every bit of it, so I did not care whether I won.
“When it finally hit me that I did win, I was so excited. It is the best feeling ever to know that all of my hard work had paid off.”
On how he would spend his portion of the prized money, Adam said he planned to host a kenduri doa selamat, while the remainder would be given to his mother and mother-in-law.
Bintang Bersama Bintang sees popular comedians compete against one another across seven weeks. They are tasked with providing live sketches and performances.
The winner is determined by online votes (30 per cent) and judges’ scores (70 per cent).
