Breastfeeding spa

- Lili Lajman

MOTHERS looking for accurate breastfeeding advice need not look any further with the recent opening of Bondahaven.

Malaysia’s first breastfeeding centre, it is co-founded by a doctor trained as a breastfeeding counsellor by the National Lactation Centre and integrates modern science with Malay maternal and postnatal care.

The holistic centre is a baby-friendly spa, which provides mothers with accurate medical advice for breastfeeding problems as well as the opportunity to also indulge in various massage and spa therapies by qualified physiotherapists.

“In our society, mothers are the backbone of families. Therefore, taking good care of their mental and physical health is crucial, especially during pregnancy and after they have given birth.

“Many mothers need breastfeeding support and post-natal care to return their health to what it was before giving birth, and we are here to provide all the support they need,” says Dr Tengku Nur ‘Atiqah Tengku Mahmood, Bondahaven co-founder.

”Our key services include breastfeeding consultation, pregnancy massage and post-natal therapy,” she adds.

What makes this breastfeeding spa unique is that it marries the best postnatal practices modern science has to offer with time-proven traditional care while not sacrificing the modern comfort and indulgences that women would expect in a spa.

Sharing her own breastfeeding experience with her firstborn, Dr Tengku Nur ‘Atiqah admits that like many new mothers, it was a bumpy journey.

“I struggled and realised that many other new mums go through the same experience. I also realised that many people want to seek reliable help but it is not easily available and going online for answers may result in mixed information. I decided to learn more and in the process, I got myself trained as a breastfeeding counsellor by the National Lactation Centre,” she says.

The spa is fully run by women for women and it not only caters to mothers as there are massages and beauty treatments for all women, including manicures, pedicures and body sculpting therapy.

Bondahaven, located in Bandar Puteri Bangi, Kajang, is open seven days a week from 10am to 6pm. For details, visit www. bondahaven.com.
