‘Journey planning’ app in the works

-

KUALA LUMPUR: The Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD) will come up with a “journey planner” application soon to make travelling easier for commuters.

The app, which has no name yet, is expected to be ready by the middle of the year.

SPAD chief executive officer Mohd Azharuddin Mat Sah said the aim of the app was to encourage people to use public transport.

“Among its features will the ability to choose any mode of transport to get from Point A to Point B, with the estimated cost and travel time included. It uses real-time data from operators such as KTMB and bus companies.”

He was speaking at a media briefing on the 2017 Land Public Transport Report Card.

He said the app could tell commuters the best mode of transport based on real-time data.

“This app is being developed by the NKRA (National Key Results Areas) Division of SPAD for Android and iOS, with the cooperation of public transportation operators, especially those in the Klang Valley.

“We believe that with real-time data at one’s fingertips, we can build people’s confidence in our public transportation system.”
