Aday after handing out suspended points deduction on teams who failed to meet the registration deadline, Football Malaysia Limited Liability Partnership (FMLLP) revealed yesterday that the concerned clubs were also slapped with RM9 million in total fines.

Super League teams — Kelantan, Kuala Lumpur, Selangor and PKNS — were fined RM1.5 million each for failing to complete their Malaysia League (M-League) registration within the deadline.

Premier League teams — Sarawak, Penang, Kuantan FA, Police, MIFA and Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia — were fined RM500,000 each for a similar offence.

FMLLP chief executive officer Kevin Ramalingam, however, revealed that teams can appeal within 14 days in order to reduce their fines.

“Teams who submitted their documents after the extended deadline were handed suspended points deduction and fines. Clubs that submitted incomplete documents were also handed suspended points deductions and fines. They are also barred from the mid-season transfer window,” said Kevin.

“However, they can appeal for a reduction in fines. If they fail to pay the fines, the amount will be deducted from their annual grants.”

Teams are supposed to submit statements of players’ salaries and contributions to the Employees Provident Fund (EPF), income tax and Socso to FMLLP before the start of the season for approval.

Kelantan and KL submitted incomplete documents while Selangor and PKNS did so after the deadline.

Premier League’s Penang, Kuantan FA, Sarawak and Police did not complete theirs while UKM and MIFA also missed the deadline.

The last day for submission was Dec 29 last year but it was extended twice — to Jan 14 and Feb 3 this year.

Kevin disclosed that teams who submitted incomplete documents face a six-point deduction, while those whose deadlines were extended will be docked three points each.

“However, points will not be deducted if the concerned teams get things in order by the end of the season,” he said.

Kevin added: “Some teams remain unprofessional over administrative issues.

“We had briefings and reminded the teams to meet requirements, but some did not pay attention.”
