Kedah and Pahang to relive FA Cup final battle

hope history will repeat itself after landing an FA Cup rematch with Pahang in the thirdround clash.

The Darulmakmu­r Stadium clash will stir memories of the 2017 final when Kedah edged Dollah Salleh’s side 3-2 for the title with Baddrol Bakhtiar scoring a brace.

Pahang assistant coach Datuk Che Nasir Salleh said his side hold no grudges but admitted that they cannot bear another defeat to the Northerner­s.

“We lost in the final last year but now we are meeting them in the third round. Both teams know each other’s strengths and weaknesses. It will be an interestin­g game,” said Che Nasir.

“There are no grudges in sports but we will motivate the players to win this.”

Four-time winners Kedah, under coach Ramon Marcote, edged Negri Sembilan 1-0 in the second round while Pahang overcame FAM Cup side Armed Forces 2-1.

Reigning Super League champions Johor Darul Ta’zim are expected to ease past Premier League’s Universiti Teknoloji Mara (UiTM) in the third round.

Former champions Selangor face a tricky match against inform Terengganu while PKNS play Kelantan.

Felda United, who lead the Premier League, face Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia in Jengka.
