NSTP reporter, 42, dies

SHAH ALAM: New Straits Times Press (NSTP) reporter Bennie Zie Fauzi, 42, died at her home in Pangsapuri Damai, Section 25, at 11.30am yesterday.

Her brother, Farhan Fauzi, 31, said his sister, Dr Nanie Zie, 38, and brother, Daniel, 28, rushed to her house after their calls went unanswered. They found her lying unconsciou­s at the living room floor and tried to resuscitat­e her, but failed.

Bennie, who was attached with the foreign desk, had a history of heart problem and was also asthmatic, Farhan said at his late sister’s home here yesterday.

He said her remains would be taken back to their hometown in Padang Rengas, Kuala Kangsar.

More than 50 NSTP staff members paid a visit to her home yesterday.
