BARISAN Nasional (BN) has finalised its list of candidates for the 14th General Election (GE14), says secretary-general Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor.

He said the list would be announced by Prime Minister and BN chairman Datuk Seri Najib Razak any time.

“Sudah, tunggu saja (It’s done, just wait),” he said after visiting PPR Pekan Kepong multi-storey car park and FRI Kepong market here yesterday.

When asked earlier on the list of candidates, Tengku Adnan said: “Just wait. I do not want to be like the opposition, who talks a lot but in the end, (there’s) nothing.

“We walk our talk, so just wait.”

BN component party leaders and state coalition chiefs said they were prepared for GE14.

Sarawak BN chief Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Abang Openg said the coalition in the state was ready.

The Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu

(PBB) president said importance should be placed on preparations to ensure that BN candidates prevailed in GE14.

He said component parties in Sarawak would accept and respect Najib’s decision.

“We will give our support to whomever is nominated by the prime minister.

“It is our culture to respect our leaders’ decisions,” he said at the launch of the Wanita PBB GE14 election machinery here yesterday.

In Shah Alam, state Umno Liaison Committee deputy chief Datuk Mat Nadzari Ahmad Dahlan said preparations for GE14 in Selangor were underway.

The Batang Kali assemblyman said a dry run would be carried out on Saturday at polling centres in the state.

“We have a strong machinery. The dry run will allow us to look at its effectiveness.

“We have begun mobilising our machinery and three audits have been conducted.

“We want to ensure everything goes according to plan on polling day.

“InsyaAllah (God willing), our machinery will be ready and eager to face GE14.

“I have faith that it will deliver what is expected from it.

“I believe we can win back Selangor,” he told the New Straits Times.

Gerakan vice-president Datuk A. Kohilan Pillay said the multiracial party was geared for GE14 and determined to win back several seats, including five parliamentary seats.

“Gerakan has sent a list of candidates to the prime minister,” he said, adding that it was up to the BN chairman to decide on the list.

MIC Youth chief Datuk Sivarraajh Chandran said the party had been working for the past three years to face GE14.

“MIC is in its final stages of reviewing the work done, including identifying the areas and the number of party voters,” he said.

MCA religious harmony bureau chairman Datuk Seri Ti Lian Ker said the party had been prepared since last year for the polls.

“Our services to voters have been going on for some time and after this, the new candidates will continue the work in GE14,” he said.

Parti Bersatu Sabah secretarygeneral Datuk Johnny Mositun said the BN component party was waiting for parliament and the state assembly to be dissolved.

“Even if it’s dissolved tomorrow, our election machinery is ready to ensure BN wins the election.”
