Don’t be taken in by sweet promises of opposition, says Zahid

DEPUTY Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has reminded Chinese voters not to be swayed and be taken in by the sweet promises of the opposition.

He urged the community to make the right choice in the 14th General Election (GE14) for the sake of future generations.

Zahid said Chinese voters should choose a party that could help them in three aspects — economy, education and security.

He said based on visits to Chinese settlements and meetings with leaders and non-governmental organisations, it was discovered that many Chinese voters had accepted Barisan Nasional because of a lack of confidence in the opposition.

“Enough! Chinese voters should not let themselves be lulled by promises made by the opposition.

“In Selangor, some people even did not get to shower because of the water crisis.

“Please give a chance to Chinese leaders from BN to show their ability to help the Chinese community.

“I am confident that Chinese voters are starting to change,” he said at the temporary occupation licence (TOL) handingover ceremony at the Kampung Bagan Pasir Laut Hall here yesterday.

Present were state MCA chief and executive councillor Datuk Dr Mah Hang Soon and Rungkup assemblyman Datuk Shahrul Zaman Yahya.

Later, Zahid said Chinese voters had realised their mistake in the previous general election and would give their support to BN.

“In the past, they had fallen prey to the opposition instigating hatred against BN.

“However, they can see our (BN) struggles are similar to theirs.

“Therefore, they want to come back to BN.”

At the event, 136 houses in the village were granted TOLs after the state government approved land reclamation involving 14.7ha owned by Ghadaf Marble Sdn Bhd on Feb 7.
