Jualan Sentuhan Rakyat to be expanded to Sabah, Sarawak

-

BAGAN DATUK: The Jualan Sentuhan Rakyat programme, which has been well received by people, will be expanded to Sabah and Sarawak, said Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi here yesterday.

He said the programme, which offered daily necessities at lowerthan-market prices, some up to 50 per cent lower, was proof of the government’s concern about reducing the burden of people because of the rising cost of living.

“The government will expand this programme to Sabah and Sarawak, and to more areas in the peninsula,” he said at the carnival held in Simpang Tiga here yesterday.

Present were Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Minister Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin and Perak Human Resources, Youth and Sports Committee chairman Datuk Shahrul Zaman Yahya, who is Rungkup assemblyman.

The programme is held only in the Peninsular Malaysia and parts of Sabah.

Zahid, who is the member of parliament here, said people should get the chance to buy daily necessities at reasonable prices.

Zahid auctioned off items that were at discounted prices.

These included meat sold at RM10 a kilogramme reduced from the market price of RM30 and 10kg of rice reduced from the market price of RM30.

Some 3,000 residents visited the carnival from 8am to noon.
