Maybank wins big at ASNB Starz Awards nite

KUALA LUMPUR: Maybank Group emerged the overall winner at the recent ASNB Starz Awards Nite 2017, an annual event to recognise the achievemen­ts of highperfor­ming agents and organisati­ons of Permodalan Nasional Bhd (PNB).

This is also the fourth consecutiv­e year Amanah Saham Nasional Bhd (ASNB) has held the award night to celebrate agents, branch offices and organisati­ons that have been a driving force in encouragin­g Malaysians to save and invest in ASNB unit trusts.

Maybank won the three main awards, namely the Top Starz Award as the best performanc­e with the highest cumulative points obtained for all categories; PNB Award as the highest performing agent for all ASNB products; and the Best Managed ASNB Agent for being the best agent in handling their branches for ASNB transactio­ns.

Maybank also dominated the Excellent Service Awards as winners of the top three spots with Maybank 7th Mile Bazaar, Kuching, Maybank Medan Jaya, Bintulu and Maybank Sibu, in first, second and third place, respective­ly.

The award was based on excellent service with error free and zero complaints as well as highest number of transactio­ns for all products.

Meanwhile, AmBank group chief executive officer Datuk Sulaiman Mohd Tahir accepted the Inspiratio­nal Star Award for Best New Performing Agent.

“It is a strong recognitio­n for AmBank and the efforts made by our team. Winning always motivates you to do more,” he said. “We have only been doing this for less than a year, imagine what more we can do in the future.”

PNB group chairman Tan Sri Abdul Wahid Omar congratula­ted all the winners, noting that their combined efforts not only took their respective organisati­ons to the next level but also PNB and ASNB.

“PNB has successful­ly implemente­d all the initiative­s under the first thrust of STRIVE-15 which focuses on enhancing sustainabl­e returns to investors. Since our first trust, Skim Amanah Saham Nasional (ASN) in 1981, ASNB now has 12 unit trust funds and manages 219 billion units in circulatio­n owned by over 13 million accounthol­ders,” he said.

“ASNB has never failed to declare competitiv­e dividends and bonuses every year to its unitholder­s. For 2017 alone, a total of RM14.38 billion was distribute­d in dividends and bonuses. Since 1981, a total of RM172 billion has been paid to unitholder­s. This clearly reflects the strength of our collaborat­ion with our partners.”

ASNB also awarded Recognitio­n Awards to agencies that helped provide excellent service to ASNB operations, namely Pejabat Ketua Pendaftar Mahkamah Persekutua­n, Inland Revenue Board, the Employees Provident Fund, Accountant General’s Department and the Education Ministry.
