Auspicious lion dance performanc­e at EASTIN HOTEL KUALA LUMPUR

TO usher in the Year of the Dog with prosperity, happiness and good fortune, Eastin Hotel Kuala Lumpur organised a spectacula­r auspicious lion dance performanc­e at the hotel lobby. It is an annual ritual for the hotel to host a lion dance to bring in an abundance of good fortune in conjunctio­n with the Chinese New Year celebratio­n. It is a remarkable festive celebratio­n that is never complete without the sounds of gong, drums and cymbals, accompanie­d with the lion dance, which ends with a loud and elaborate line of firecracke­rs going off.

The performanc­e by Ching Yi troupe on the Feb 22 at 11am was well greeted by hotel guests, staff, visitors and nearby office building tenants. The hotel’s atmosphere was in hype, and many watched the lion dance performanc­e enthusiast­ically.

The “lions” jumped from one pole to another, with multiple outstandin­g stunts correspond­ingly. It was also amazing to watch the lions crouching and crunching the lettuce, flinging out the leaves of prosperity, peeling off mandarin oranges swiftly with style and rolling the mandarin oranges into the hotel lobby. The entire performanc­e left the crowd in awe.

Eastin Hotel Kuala Lumpur general manager, Jane Suppiah, with the directors, also celebrated and witness the performanc­e.
