POKOK SENA MP THROWS HOUSE INTO CHAOS OVER TN50
He accuses Negri MB, Khairy of instigating youths
AN opposition lawmaker yesterday threw a question-and-answer session into chaos when he “hulked out” against a minister on matters related to Transformasi Nasional 2050 (TN50).
Instead of raising questions to Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri S.K. Devamany, Datuk Mahfuz Omar (Parti Amanah Negara-Pokok Sena) launched into a tirade, accusing Barisan Nasional leaders of going against the “spirit” of TN50.
Mahfuz alleged, among others, that Negri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan and Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin had “instigated” youths to “flip tables” at coffee shops at an event recently.
Mahfuz was, however, neither clear on the context of the purported instigation nor provided details of the event.
“This shows that TN50 is nothing more than just lies to the people,” said Mahfuz.
Several BN lawmakers, in response, stood to remind Mahfuz to raise a question, and the atmosphere turned rowdy, with Mahfuz yelling in between protests from across the house.
Datuk Dr Noor Azmi Ghazali (BN-Bagan Serai) told Mahfuz he should ask Devamany a question instead of making wild allegations.
Datuk Seri Bung Mokhtar Radin (BN-Kinabatangan) took a jab at Mahfuz’s recent jump from Pas to Parti Amanah Negara.
“Pokok Sena likes to jump (around). His brain is confused. He had jumped three times, and there is not even a question.”
Datuk Seri Abdul Ghapur Salleh (BNKalabakan) said Mahfuz was obviously “envious” of BN’s success.
Deputy Speaker Datuk Seri Dr Ismail Mohamad calmed the situation, but not before taking a potshot at Mahfuz.
“I had thought after you had moved to Amanah, you would be more ‘beramanah’ (person of high integrity).”
