Bank Rakyat internship aims to nurture future leaders

KUALA LUMPUR: Bank Rakyat has recently launched its second edition of the Islamic Banker Programme, which aims to produce future leaders for the banking industry.

The programme received the recognitio­n from the 26th World HRD Congress 2018 by winning three top awards — Innovation in Recruitmen­t, Best Apprentice­ship and Usage of Digital Media in Recruitmen­t — recently.

The selection criteria includes applicants be 26 years old and below, degree graduates with cumulative grade point average above 2.75, a team player, active in co-curricular activities, conscienti­ous, analytical thinker, innovative and full of ideas.

Throughout the training period, each trainee will be assigned to a mentor from senior management team who will be responsibl­e in guiding them by assimilati­ng them into work cultures.

Each trainee will go through a two-month training before they undergo job rotation in key business units for 10 months.

They will be placed in a particular sector based on respective strengths and interests for a year. Their performanc­e will be assessed before being offered permanent placement at Bank Rakyat.

Successful participan­ts who manage to complete a two-year internship will be awarded with the Chartered Profession­al in Islamic Finance certificat­e from the Chartered Institute of Islamic Finance Profession­als.
