BARISAN Nasional is committed to ensuring it meets the aspirations voiced by the youth by providing various platforms on career, housing, finance and skills training to improve their living standards, said Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

“It’s proven that BN’s effort to assist the youth is not just on paper and seasonal but it has been ongoing for quite some time.

“If we are continuously given the opportunity, we will continue to provide our support,” he said at the launch of the Barisan Nasional Youth Job Fair 2018 in the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC) here yesterday.

Present were Barisan Nasional Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin and Umno Youth deputy chief Khairul Azwan Harun.

This is the 38th expo since it was first organised in 2011.

Zahid said the two-day expo offered more than 50,000 job opportunities from 200 government agencies and governmentlinked companies.

He said BN was aware of the difficulties faced by the youth relating to home ownership.

“That is why BN has been providing various schemes, including financing facilities, for the youth.”

Zahid also suggested setting up a secretariat to coordinate and standardise skills training by government agencies.

“BN Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin can be appointed the chairman of the secretariat,” he added.

Zahid also said BN Youth must trust the party leadership to select candidates for the 14th General Election.

He said the party leadership was aware that BN Youth wanted their representatives to be selected to continue upholding their interests.

“Our Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak was ‘born’ from BN Youth. Defence Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein and I, too, are the products of BN Youth.

“We realise that BN Youth wants to have its representatives selected for the election, but if they are not selected, please don’t take it to heart.”

Zahid, who is Umno vice-president, said those who were not selected should keep giving their full support to the party and ensure the coalition wins, no matter how difficult it was.

“Stay focused and there will be victory. Stay on the front line and ensure that BN wins.

“Make sure you make BN proud when you are selected to contest, no matter how difficult, prove to me and the prime minister that victory will be for BN.”
