‘Accept Umno’s candidate decision’

-

PUTRAJAYA: Umno secretarygeneral Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor has reminded party members to be wala’ (loyal) and accept the party’s decision in the selection of candidates for the 14th General Election.

Tengku Adnan said Umno members should comply with the ethics, rules and constitution of the party.

“If the person does not get (to contest in GE14), there must be a reason behind it. But, he should not act arbitrarily because that will cause problems.

“I urge members to accept the decision. If they don’t, we can sack them immediately as we don’t want to keep enemies in our house,” he said at the launch of Presint 11K and 11F surau development here.

He said this was to ensure that only “genuine” members could fight for Umno.

“We have seen this before. Most of them (those sacked) will form a new party. When they fail to get what they want, they will set up a new party and cause trouble. The worst part is some are trying to topple the government.”

On the tug of war over the Wangsa Maju parliamentary seat between Umno and MCA, Tengku Adnan, who is Federal Territory BN chairman, said the coalition’s candidate list had not been finalised.

“Why are people jumpy and overreacting? The same applies to the Bandar Tun Razak parliamentary seat. Be patient. Just wait and see.”

On Friday, 30 people turned up at the Prime Minister’s Office to urge BN chairman Datuk Seri Najib Razak to field Wangsa Maju Umno chief Datuk Seri Dr Mohd Shafei Abdullah as a candidate for GE14.
