Pas aims to win 112 parliamentary seats

-

PERMATANG PAUH: Pas and its partners in Gagasan Sejahtera aim to contest between 130 and 150 parliamentary seats in the 14th General Election (GE14).

Pas president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang said from the figure, Pas had targeted to win 112 parliamentary seats.

“Pas will contest 130 parliamentary seats. However, the number could rise to 150 or more, after taking into account candidates from Gagasan Sejahtera’s component parties.

“We aim to lead the government, by winning at least 112 parliamentary seats,” he said at the party’s state GE14 election machinery gathering yesterday.

Present were Pas deputy president Datuk Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man, its Youth chief, Muhammad Khalil Abdul Hadi, state Pas commissioner Fauzi Mohd Yusof and members of the Pas central leadership.

Gagasan Sejahtera consists of Pas, Dewan Himpunan Penyokong Pas, Parti Ikatan Bangsa Malaysia, Barisan Jemaah Islamiah Se-Malaysia and Parti Cinta Malaysia.

In the 13th General Election, Pas won 14 out of the 73 parliamentary seats it contested.

Hadi reiterated his stand that Pas would emerge the “kingmakers” in forming the Federal Government, provided that it won between 20 and 40 seats.

“Many have asked, who will Pas work with? Pas will work with anyone who is not against Islamic teachings.”

Fauzi said Penang Pas and its Gagasan Sejahtera partners aimed to contest at least 21 state seats.

“Penang Pas will field candidates in 18 state seats. This number will rise after including candidates from component parties.

“The full list of candidates will be announced on Thursday.

“This is a bigger number than the five seats allocated for Penang Pas when we were under the now defunct Pakatan Rakyat. We are aiming to win by a simple majority to overthrow DAP’s political domination of the state.”
