YOUTH EXPO ATTRACTS JOBSEEKERS
People from as far as Sabah, Kelantan and Terengganu flock to two-day event
VISITORS grabbed the chance to find their dream home on the second day of Expo Pemuda, aside from hunting for their dream jobs.
The two-day event at the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC) featured a job fair, property fair and funding opportunities for entrepreneurs.
Nik Nor Fazrin of My Universal Management Sdn Bhd said they had been receiving many visitors from different age groups since yesterday morning.
“We have many people coming to our booth to find out about properties that we offer and loans that they can take,” she said, adding that those who were interested to invest had taken the opportunity to do so.
Malaysia Airport Holdings Berhad (MAHB) customer experience management manager Rosmawati Mohamad Saufi said the MAHB booth received more than 1,000 visitors.
The company attracted many jobseekers and conducted walkin interviews for entry-level jobs, while taking in resumes of potential candidates for interviews at a later date.
RHB Bank Bhd human resource branding associate Aidil Adha Abd Ghani said the company received good response from jobseekers.
“We found a few candidates who met our criteria.
“They will be called for an interview within a week if they are shortlisted by the management,” he said.
Fresh graduate Mohd Aizat Abd Jalil, 22, said he was surprised by the high participation of government-linked companies in the expo.
“I spent almost three hours visiting each booth.
“I submitted more than 10 resumes.”
Siti Ameera Zul, 29, who has been attached to financial institutions, said she was keen to explore job opportunities.
“I am looking for a new job to expand my career and I believe that this expo is a good avenue for me to see the choices available,” she said.
Expo Pemuda project director Sahul Hameed Dawood said as of 3pm yesterday, the organiser received almost 50,000 visitors, including those from Sabah.
“There were a few of them who flew in for this event. There was a group of fresh graduates who took a bus from Terengganu and Kelantan to look for jobs,” he said.
He added that more than 1,000 visitors were interviewed on the spot.
“About 300 candidates were hired on the spot by the participating companies.”
