THE seventh edition of Gegaria Fest 2018 #KitaOK rocked people at Amanjaya Mall here after the event was held for six times in the peninsula since January. Some 30,000 people turned up for the festival throughout the day, joined by another 20,000 for the night’s concert, making it the biggest turnout in the series.

Even the rain, which fell at night, failed to dampen the spirits of those attending the concert as they danced their hearts out and sang along to songs from their favourite artistes.

Organised by Media Prima Bhd, the nonstop entertainment and inspirational festival that provides space and opportunities for society to connect, share and inspire has achieved its target of becoming a platform for millennials to express themselves and uniting youth.

From 8.30am to 11pm yesterday, visitors took part in activities at five zones — Makan-Makan Zone, Throwback Tunnel Zone, Lifestyle Zone, Community Zone and Entertainment Zone.

One of the attractions at the event was the electronic gaming booth where visitors learnt more about eSports.

At the Lifestyle Zone, visitors learnt about money management from artistes Dinie and Khai at the #YOUCANDUIT booth. Other celebrities gave fashion, beauty and health tips, as well as career advice.

Another attraction was the Music and Fashion session, hosted by Pa’din Musa and Noh Salleh.

At the community zone, visitors could check on their election registration status, in collaboration with the Election Commission, as well with the Employees Provident Fund.

This edition of the Gegaria Evening Concert and Night Concert was the biggest compared with its previous events. It featured celebrities Stacy, Akim and The Majistret, Faizal Tahir, Kugiran Masdo, Bunkface, Hujan, Bell Yu Tian, Orkes A. Hizadin and Plague of Happiness.

New Straits Times Press chief executive officer Datuk Seri Abdul Jalil Hamid said Media Prima planned to hold future Gegaria events by end of this year, thanks to its overwhelming response.

“After the seventh edition of the event, we will carry out a post-mortem to identify our weaknesses so that we can improve in the next festival.

“We will maintain its concept, but might change the format to make it more appealing.

“The event is a good platform for us to reach out to youth interested in digital activities.”
