Muizz notches first win in Southeast Asian F4

- Thani Sukhairi

Musyaffa scored his first win in race 6 of the Southeast Asia Formula 4 series (F4 sea) despite admitting that he was struggling to get the best out of his machine earlier at the Sepang International Circuit (SIC) yesterday.

Muizz who moved over to F4 SEA from go-kart racing before this, said that he was struggling to get used to his ‘new’ racing machine, especially during free practice on Wednesday.

The 16-year-old however managed to find his rhythm in the first race where he finished fourth.

Muizz, who once emerged as the World Series Karting (WSK) champion back in 2014, finished strongly in race 4 as he took second place, before emerging victorious in race 6.

“From Wednesday itself it was somewhat difficult for me. From the free practice session on Wednesday right up to today (Sunday), it was a difficult period especially in terms of braking and trying to reduce the gap with the fastest drivers.

“In the end, I still managed to register a podium finish, so it is a very good result indeed for myself and the team.

“However a podium finish isn’t everything, because for me, if the result is a good one then the race will of course in itself be even more interesting,” said Muizz.

The result for overall positions for the 2017/2018 season is expected to be announced through a celebratory event which will be held sometime in June.
