Bagan Datuk to have RM75m resort
BAGAN DATUK: Bagan Datuk will have a new landmark with the construction of a resort, which is expected to be completed by 2020, said Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
He said Bagan Datuk would serve as the most developed district in Perak, as well as a tribute to Sultan of Perak Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah, who declared Bagan Datuk the state’s 12th district last year.
Zahid said the construction of Teedo Resort near the town area, at a cost of about RM75 million, would be funded by private firm Al-Falah Foundation and operated by Nour Hotel and Resorts.
“The private sector is involved in the construction and management of the hotel, with several commercial premises to be built, and this is in line with the goal of making Bagan Datuk a tourist destination,” he said at the resort’s groundbreaking.
Present were Zahid’s wife, Datin Seri Hamidah Khamis, and their daughter, Datuk Nurulhidayah, who is Nour Hotel & Resorts managing director.
The resort, to be built over 60ha, will house a commercial zone, shopping centre, restaurants, theme park and Maahad Tahfiz Al-Ridzuan, with a gross development cost of about RM250 million.
Zahid, who is Bagan Datuk member of parliament, said public investment needed to be tied up with private investment to develop an area, as well as to support and spur development projects planned by the government.
“This is not just to develop Bagan Datuk’s economy, but also to encourage youth working outside the district to return and work here.”
Nurulhidayah said the resort was the first of its kind in Hilir Perak and Bagan Datuk.
She said the resort would have 150 rooms and 100 chalets, three seminar rooms, shops, a hall that could seat 500 people, gym and swimming pool.
