Twenty-three 11MP projects worth RM4.7 billion boost state

IPOH: A total of 23 high-impact projects involving RM4.7 billion have been implemente­d in the Perak through the 11th Malaysia Plan (11MP).

Ten of the projects were carried out by the Public Works Department (PWD), involving allocation­s of RM1.84 billion.

These included the upgrading of Jalan Persekutua­n 5 Teluk Intan-Kampung Lekir with a total cost of RM706 million; upgrading the Damar Laut to Changkat Jering route Package One (RM143 million); Package Two (RM103 million); elevated interchang­e from FT005 to FT069 in Hutan Melintang, Bagan Datuk (RM144 million); upgrading of FT073 route from Parit to Siputeh (RM75 million) and upgrading of FT069 route from Simpang Empat Hutan Melintang to Parit 19, Bagan Datuk (RM111 million).

The other projects include the constructi­on of a new bridge from Bagan Datuk to Kampung Sejagop, Perak Tengah, worth RM446 million; new bridge connecting Kampung Lambor Kiri to Kampung Lambor Kanan in Perak Tengah crossing Sungai Perak (RM62 million) and new bridge between Kampung Seberang Manong and Pekan Manong in Kuala Kangsar (RM43 million).

Ten more projects worth RM646 million were carried out throughout the country by the Natural Resources and Environmen­t Ministry.

They are flood-mitigation projects, restoring river corridors, raising drainage systems and river basin developmen­t .

Among them are the Sungai Perak Integrated River Basin Developmen­t Phase 1 project involving cost RM250 million; Flood Mitigation Project Sungai Kinta Phase 2 (RM108 million), Special Scheme for Cluster Land Plan (RTB) in Sungai Beruas Basin (RM36.8 million), RTB in Grik (RM74 million) and RTB in Teluk Intan (RM71 million).

State Public Utilities, Infrastruc­ture, Energy and Water Committee chairman Datuk Zainol Fadzi Paharuddin said most of the projects had been approved and were under constructi­on, while other projects were at the evaluation process.

He said among the most highlighte­d projects were RTBs and the developmen­t of river basins because they overcame flood problems.

He said the Energy, Green Technology and Water Ministry was allocated RM2.24 billion, which was among those that received the highest allocation in implementi­ng high-impact projects.

“It involves the constructi­on of a regional sewage treatment plant and a sewerage pipeline network in Assam Kumbang, Taiping, worth RM194 million, and the work of connecting regional sewage plant and sewerage pipeline network in Pasir Bogak, Pulau Pangkor, amounting to RM32 million, as well as the connection of regional sewage plant and West Kinta sewerage network near Papan, Ipoh, amounting to RM2.02 billion.”

He said most of the projects were under constructi­on.
