Azmin’s brother vows to challenge him
KUALA LUMPUR: Controversial celebrity Azwan Ali has vowed to stand against his brother, Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Azmin Ali, wherever the latter decides to contest the 14th General Election (GE14).
Azwan, who is known as Diva AA, said he planned to contest as an independent candidate.
“It does not matter whether he contests a parliamentary or state seat.
“I will run against him to destroy his political career.
“People can say whatever they want but I want to expose him (Azmin) for what he is.
“I don’t want the Selangor people to keep on being fooled,” he said, adding that he knew many secrets about his brother.
The former television personality said he had been urged by his supporters to contest against his brother, who is PKR deputy president.
Azwan said Selangor would face a “major disaster” if Azmin was re-elected to govern the state.
On his chances and how he planned to finance his campaign, he said he did not want to boast but he had the money to campaign.
“It does not matter if I lose. Even if I lose the deposit, I will consider it a donation to the Election Commission. I will not have any regrets.”
Azwan has been vocal in condemning his brother.
In recent months, he lodged a report with the Malaysian AntiCorruption Commission against Azmin, alleging abuse of power and corrupt practices.
Azmin is the Gombak member of parliament and Bukit Antarabangsa state assemblyman since 2008.
