MFL likely to annul Kuantan FA’s Premier League results

THE Malaysia Football League (MFL) is expected to annul all Premier League results associated with Kuantan FA after the team were kicked out on Friday.

MFL chief executive officer Kevin Ramalingam said the decision to cancel the results of the seven matches played by Kuantan FA is the best measure but the matter is to be decided by MFL’s board of directors.

“We have not announced our decision in regard to Premier League points involving Kuantan FA because we need to have a discussion.

“The appropriate move is to void all Kuantan FA match results. We announced Kuantan FA’s expulsion because we don’t want the team to be carrying points after this.

“There are several factors to be considered especially in terms of cancelling match results.

“Not only are the points not legit, we have to decide whether the goals involving Kuantan FA are still relevant and taken into consideration.

“Because it might affect the players’ chances of winning the top goal scorer award.”

To date, Kuantan FA have played seven matches with one win, three draws and three losses, for a total of six points. They are currently 10th in the Premier League.

The squad, coached by Ismail Zakaria, were booted out by MFL following their failure to turn up for the match against Police at Shah Alam Stadium on April 15.

Despite Kuantan FA players facing salary issues for a couple of seasons, the team have been able to compete in the M-League. This begs the question of MFL’s firmness in handling the matter.

Kevin said club licensing is the best solution to the problem but it will only be implemented through Premier League teams’ requests in 2019 for season 2020.

“We have launched club licensing but it has not reached the Premier League as it is done in stages. Under club licensing, they need to present their latest financial report as well as their plans to generate income.”
