NSTP WINS BIG AT WAN-IFRA’S ASIAN MEDIA AWARDS
It bags three prizes at WAN-IFRA’s Asian Media Awards
THE New Straits Times Press took home three awards at Asian Media Awards 2018, organised by the World Association of Newspapers and News Publishers’ (WAN-IFRA), here yesterday.
New Straits Times bagged the Silver Award for Newspaper Breaking News Article in the Best in Editorial Content category for its report on an accident involving a logger, which led to the discovery of environmental destruction.
The piece was written by Tasnim Lokman.
This was the second consecutive year that NST received an award in the same category.
Harian Metro won the Bronze Award in the same category for its report on two Palestinians stranded at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA). Kalidevi Mogan Kumarappa authored the piece.
NSTP photographer Osman Adnan won the Bronze Award for Sports Photography in the Best in Photojournalism category for his picture of the Malaysian football team that beat Indonesia at the 2017 Sea Games. This is Osman’s third victory at WANIFRA.
The Asian Media Awards is held as part of the annual Publish Asia conference.
This year’s edition is being held for two days here beginning yesterday.
The awards were presented by WANIFRA Asia Pacific chairman Patrick Daniel and chief operating officer Thomas Jacob.
Present were NSTP chief commercial officer Alfian Talib and digital business and development general manager Azizi Othman.
NSTP emerged as the Malaysian media house that bagged the most awards at the event.
The Star media group won an award in the Best Editorial Content category.
