Tengku Adnan sure his service in Putrajaya will shine through
PUTRAJAYA: The Putrajaya parliamentary seat will see a threecornered fight between Barisan Nasional, Pas and PKR.
BN is represented by incumbent Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor, while Pas fielded Zainal Abidin Kidam and PKR fielded Datuk Dr Samsu Adabi Mamat.
Putrajaya parliament election officer Datuk Azizi Ahmad announced this at the nomination centre in Presint 9 here yesterday.
Azizi said none of the contestants was denied from contesting in the constituency.
Tengku Adnan, who is BN secretary-general and Federal Territories minister, said he was confident that the constituents had seen his work and performance as Putrajaya member of parliament for three terms.
“I am confident people here know me well since I have served Putrajaya for a long time.
“The other two candidates appear only when there is a general election. Their presence is not (felt) in Putrajaya.
“All this while, I was the caretaker of Putrajaya, and, insyaAllah (God willing), if I win, this will be my fourth term here and I will fulfil BN’s manifesto.”
Zainal Abidin, who is Harakah chief executive officer, said he was confident that Pas would be in an advantageous position compared with the other contestants.
“This is because... Pas supporters will not waver in their stand and stick to their principle. We are certain that our votes will not be split like BN.
“We will focus on human capital development in Putrajaya, which is lacking, especially among young people.”
Samsu Adabi, who is a former Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia lecturer, said PKR would focus on young voters by offering them human resources development through skills training.
“Many of them are not exposed to technical and skills training.”
In GE13, Tengku Adnan won the seat with a majority of 5,541 votes against Pas’ Datuk Husam Musa.
