HISHAM: GO ALL OUT FOR BN

‘BN machinery needs to work together to ensure victory’

- MOHD SABRAN MD SANI

UMNO vice-president Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein has urged the Barisan Nasional election machinery involving Women, Youth and Puteri wings to play their roles and carry out their responsibilities during the 14th General Election (GE14).

He said it was important for them to fulfil their obligations.

“All BN machinery nationwide need to work together as we are approaching GE14, which requires us to go all out for the sake of the country.

“The women’s wing has its Jalinan Rakyat Plus, Youth has its Briged Gempur and Puteri, Briged IT. This is the time when they need to prove their teamwork,” he said at the Sembrong Community Building in Taman Sri Lambak here.

Present were Kahang BN candidate R. Vidyananthan and Paloh BN candidate Teoh Yap Kun.

Hishammuddin, who is Sembrong’s former representative, said the machinery had limited time to convince the people that BN was the right choice for them.

“We need to carry out our responsibilities, not for ourselves or our respective wings, but to ensure the continuity of the coalition.”

On the nomination day, he said he was satisfied as it went smoothly.

“I am excited and touched by the enthusiasm shown by BN machinery and I cannot wait to join the campaign. The three of us have been fighting for Sembrong and we have our dreams, where most of them have been realised.”

On his opponent Onn Abu Bakar from PKR, Hishammuddin said it was up to the people to judge and evaluate Onn’s plan, whom he described as a seasonal candidate.

“People need to ask what is their (PKR) plan to develop Sembrong, Kahang and Paloh? What are their plans to unite the multiracial community and how do they ensure that Sembrong parliament, as well as Paloh and Kahang state assembly, are at par with other constituencies in Johor?

“If they don’t have any plan and only come here to spread lies and disunite people, I believe people can evaluate and think who deserve to serve here to help them.”

He said team work between him, Vidyananthan and Teoh was not a make-believe.

He said what would be important for BN and its component parties was to have awareness and trust among them.

“The candidates we are seeing here today representing Umno, MCA and MIC are something that cannot be fabricated, which require awareness and trust.

“Trust lies not only among the three candidates, it also involves their supporters and this must be inculcated,” he said in reply to the three parties formula under BN to ensure the coalition remained in Sembrong.

Hishammuddin said he was proud to have “Mini Malaysia” in Sembrong comprising leaders of the three main races, reflecting the spirit of 1Malaysia.

“If we don’t do it here in Sembrong, how can we do the same for our country? And, this (three parties) formula requires candor.”

He urged candidates to uphold decorum while campaigning.

“Try not to promise the moon and the stars just to be popular. Try not to be aggressive during campaigning, which can tarnish the country’s image,” he said.

For those who were not chosen to contest, Hishammuddin urged them to put BN’s struggles above all.
