BN candidate Jason Teoh not intimidated by Kit Siang

-

JOHOR BARU: Barisan Nasional candidate for the Iskandar Puteri parliamentary seat Datuk Jason Teoh Sew Hock said he is not the least bit intimidated going against Lim Kit Siang for the hot seat.

Teoh, 49, who is MCA Gelang Patah chairman, said he was quite comfortable taking on Lim.

“I was supposed to contest against him in the last election, but had to relinquish the seat to Tan Sri Abdul Ghani Othman.”

He said although he had to wait for five years for the chance to contest against the DAP veteran, he was grateful that the fight was finally on.

“I have no qualms to contest against him as I have waited for this day to happen.

“It is not a matter of who is contesting, but what the person contesting has done for the community.”

He said his chances to wrest the seat from Lim were quite good as Iskandar Puteri voters, especially the Chinese, had become wiser about how their member of parliament should perform.

However, he said it would be a great loss for Iskandar Puteri voters if they continued to support Lim.

Lim said he was delighted to contest the same seat he won in the last election with a majority of 14,762 votes.

“BN was wrong in thinking that I would not stand here... the Iskandar Puteri voters’ faith in me is still strong.”

The two state seats in the constituency — Skudai and Kota Iskandar — will see a heated fight.

DAP candidate Tan Hong Ping will contest against MIC Gelang Patah chairman Datuk S. Kanan G. Supiah for the Skudai seat.

The Kota Iskandar seat will be a battle ground for three contesting candidates — Dzulkefly Ahmad (PKR), Salehuddin Mohd Dahiran (Pas) and Mohammad Khairi A. Malik (BN).
