30 PKR supporters against BN’s 2,000

-

MARANG: It seems like the opposition pact has a slim chance of winning the parliamentary and state seats in Marang as fewer than 30 supporters turned up at the Marang District and Land Office here on nomination day.

The PKR supporters did not appear to be enthusiastic, especially after seeing more than 2,000 Barisan Nasional and Pas supporters at the nomination centre.

PKR candidate Dr Zarawi Sulong, who is from Parti Amanah Negara, and contesting the Marang parliamentary and Rhu Rendang state seats, said the support for the party seemed to be lacking.

“We can see the massive support for BN and Pas as both parties have been in the constituency for a long time, while we are new.

“For me, this is only the beginning. I feel that the support for PKR will improve once the campaign starts,” he told the New Straits Times Press after submitting his nomination forms.

Dr Zarawi will face Mohamad Nor Endut (BN) and Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang (Pas) in Marang, as well as Datuk Nik Dir Nik Wan Ku (BN) and Professor Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar (Pas) in Rhu Rendang.

Besides Dr Zarawi, other opposition candidates are Ahmad Sabri Ali@Mamat (PKR), who will contest Alur Limbat; Mohd Dalizan Abd Aziz (PKR-PAN) in Bukit Payung; and, Aidi Ahmad (PKR-PPBM) in Pengkalan Berangan.
