BARISAN Nasional candidate for Kijal seat Datuk Seri Ahmad Said was accompanied by his two wives at the Dewan Berlian Kemaman nomination centre here yesterday.

Ahmad said the presence of his wives, Toh Puan Seri Norliza Mahmud, 52, and Noor Hamilah Yahya, 46, gave him the motivation to fight in the 14th General Election (GE14).

“In the previous general elections, I was only accompanied by a wife.

“This time, I made my own history when both my wives are by my side,” he said after submitting his nomination form.

Ahmad will face a three-cornered fight involving Pas candidate Nazri Jusoh and PKR candidate Datuk Seri Wan Marzuki Wan Sembok.

In Dungun, BN candidate for Bukit Besi Roslee Daud was also accompanied by his two wives to the nomination centre at Dungun district office.

Roslee said his wives, Azizah Kadir, 58, and Masliza Abdul Rashid, 48, were also with him on nomination day for the last general election to show their support.

He said his wives, who live in Kampung Bukit Besi, helped him during the campaign period.

“In the campaign, they went around drumming support for me. They also tagged along when I attended community programmes in Bukit Besi.”

He said his wives were not active in politics, but were well known among Bukit Besi residents since they were young.

“Their presence motivated me to defend and serve the people in Bukit Besi.

“I praise them for always helping the community here whenever I am out of town.”

Roslee will face a three-cornered fight in the constituency, involving Ghazali Sulaiman of Pas and Mohamad Arif Arifin of PKR.
