WINDS OF CHANGE IN KELANTAN, SAYS KU LI

It is the best opportunity for BN to wrest Kelantan, says Gua Musang candidate

- RAMLI IBRAHIM

TENGKU Razaleigh Hamzah is optimistic that the winds of change are blowing in Kelantan and the people will support Barisan Nasional in the 14th General Election.

He said this could be seen from how BN’s candidates were well received when they submitted their nomination forms yesterday.

“This election is the best opportunity for us to wrest Kelantan as there is a split within Pas.

“However, BN candidates must work hard to win over the people,” he said, adding that he had met the state BN election machinery and received positive feedback on the coalition’s chances.

Tengku Razaleigh will defend the Gua Musang parliamentary seat he has held since 1974 in a three-cornered contest on May 9.

The 81-year-old leader’s opponents are Abdullah Hussein of Pas and Mohd Nor Hussin of PKR,

In the 13th General Election, he retained the seat with a 8,413vote majority in a straight fight with Wan Abdul Rahim Wan Abdullah of Pas.

The three state seats in Gua Musang — Nenggiri, Paloh and Galas — will see three-cornered fights among BN, Pas and PKR.

Ab Aziz Yusoff of BN, who was Galas assemblyman, will contest the Nenggiri state seat and face Md Sidek @ Mohd Saupi Ab Razak of Pas and Othman Yusoff of PKR.

Paloh will be contested by BN’s Amran Ariffin, Azman Ahmad of Pas and Noraini Husain of PKR, while Galas will be contested by Mohd Syahbuddin Hashim of BN, Pas’s Suhaimi Mat Deris and PKR’s Nasir Dollah.

BN swept clean the four seats in the last general election, making the constituencies its strongholds in Kelantan.
