BN man not fazed by tough fight in Kota Baru

-

KOTA BARU: Barisan Nasional candidate Fikhran Hamshi Mohamad Fatmi, 32, will be up against two heavyweights, Datuk Takiyuddin Hassan (Pas) and PKR’s Husam Musa for the Kota Baru parliamentary seat.

It is considered a tough fight since Takiyuddin and Husam have their own influence in the state.

Fikhran said he was not too worried about facing his opponents.

“I know I am a young candidate for BN in Kelantan, but age should never be a factor. I will work hard to approach voters. Although I am new to the party, my presence here is accepted by the people.

Takiyuddin agreed that the seat was a tough fight, however, he was confident that voters would support Pas.

“This time around, we are facing a different situation as parliamentary and state seats will see a three-cornered fight.

“But we see it as a healthy competition as all have equal chances of winning. We are confident with our strengths,” he said.

Election Commission returning officer Zamri Ismail, announced that 14 candidates who applied to contest the Kota Baru parliamentary seat and its three constituencies had been accepted.

The Kota Lama state seat will see a five-cornered fight. BN will be represented by Chua Hok Kuan, while the others are Tan Sri Ab Rashid Ab Rahman (PKR), Datuk Anuar Tan Abdullah (Pas), Khairul Nizam Abdul Ghani (PPSM) and independent candidate Izat Bukhary Ismail Bukhary.

The Tanjong Mas state seat will see a three-cornered fight between Madihah Ab Aziz (BN), Dr Hafidzah Mustakim (PKR) and Rohani Ibrahim (Pas).

The Bunut Payong state seat will be contested by Datuk Mohamed Hasnan Che Hussin (BN), Sanusi Othman (PKR) and Datuk Dr Ramli Mamat (Pas).
