UMNO has criticised opposition candidates who appear only during the general election and go incognito after it ends, especially if they lose their seats.

Umno vice-president Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein said the opposition had nothing special to offer other than to make promises that did not make sense.

He said the people in Paloh did not know DAP’s candidate although he lived in Kluang from 2013 to 2015.

The candidate is the special officer for Kluang member of parliament Liew Chin Tong.

“I am confident that the people here will not be fooled by the opposition.

“Politics of hate, which has become the main agenda of the opposition, will backfire as the people are aware of the good things and developments in place and the opposition can no longer spin this,” he said after the groundbreaking of the futsal court here at Kampung India here in Paloh.

Hishammuddin added that in reality, the opposition had not done anything in Paloh, while the Barisan Nasional machineries had been helping the people since the 13th General Election.

Present were Kahang state seat candidate R. Vidyananthan, Paloh state seat candidate Teo Yap Kun and community leaders.

Hishammuddin said the groundbreaking yesterday was a testament to the fact that the government had looked after the welfare of Indian youth in Paloh.

“It proves that the elected candidate has listened to the ‘heartbeat’ of the grassroots to ensure the multiracial community here is always looked after.”
