THE state government is committed to promoting Perak at the international level through programmes involving foreign participation.

Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir said the organisation of programmes, such as sporting events and conferences, could internationalise Perak and introduce the state to the world.

“We have identified several fields and areas, among them sports and conferences. At the same time, we have realised programmes such as the Pangkor Dialogue,” he said after flagging off the Janamanjung Fellowship Ride 2018 in Teluk Batik here yesterday.

Zambry said the cycling event could promote domestic tourism.

“It encourages more people from outside Perak to visit, with Manjung being one of the main domestic tourism destinations.

“Tourist arrivals will be boosted with the declaration of Pangkor as a duty-free island.”

Zambry, who is Barisan Nasional candidate for the Lumut parliamentary and Pangkor state seats, advised candidates in the 14th General Election not to allow their emotions to get the better of them.

“If we allow that to happen, it will affect the state and country.

“We tend to get carried away during elections. This is why everyone have to be calm and rational. BN’s approach is not an emotional one.”
