‘Permatang Pauh folk welcome BN because they can rely on us’

PERMATANG PAUH: Barisan Nasional candidate Datuk Mohd Zaidi Mohd Said believes that he can wrest the PKR stronghold, Permatang Pauh, from the opposition.

The 49-year-old politician said his confidence was because BN was well-received by the people in the parliamentary constituency.

“Our people (BN) were once not allowed to enter the village,” he said after attending the Jentera Jalinan Rakyat Wanita Umnogathering here yesterday.

“We were chased out. Now, we don’t have such a problem.

“The people welcome us with smiles because they know who they can rely on during hard times.

“That is why I believe BN can win this time.”

Zaidi, who is Permatang Pauh Umno chief, said he would launch a manifesto for the people here tomorrow.

It features 14 pledges that focus on the people’s welfare and development of Permatang Pauh.

“Everything will be announced on Tuesday (tomorrow).

“This is my promise to the people of Permatang Pauh.

“The BN government keeps it promises.”

Present were 500 Wanita Umno members, led by state Wanita Umno chief Senator Datuk Norliza Abdul Rahim.

Zaidi faces a three-cornered fight with PKR’s Nurul Izzah Anwar and Pas’ Afnan Hamimi Taib Azamudden.
